The Machine Learning Platform team builds the end-to-end machine learning platform that supports Indeed’s most mission and performance critical products. The team’s mission is to provide the machine learning platform that leverages Indeed’s massive volume of data and incorporates the latest machine learning trends and technologies to power critical products like job search and recommendation teams. We strive to enable teams across Indeed to match every job seeker with the most relevant jobs.

As the Software Engineering Manager for this team, you will partner with your team and steer the machine learning platform evolution that will serve Indeed for years to come. You will lean on the team and your technical expertise to serve Indeed’s unique machine learning challenges. You will partner with both engineers and data scientists across Indeed products to this end. To be successful in this role, you need to have a solid machine learning and engineering background.

You are comfortable learning new things on the fly and helping your team learn unfamiliar systems and technology. You make pragmatic technology decisions to balance scalability, speed to market, and long-term maintainability. You use documentation effectively as a tool to teach and communicate. You work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure impact is delivered.

You understand that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. You run engineering teams and earn the respect of talented software developers. You are equally happy talking about algorithms and data structures as you are brainstorming about the agile development process and technology career development. You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.

Skills/Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
• 5+ years experience programming and building high-performance distributed systems, data processing pipelines, or company-wide platforms
• 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager coaching and growing an agile process team of Software Engineers, while helping them improve their skills and grow in their career
• Comprehensive knowledge of ML lifecycle management and automation. Deep understanding of model versioning, experiment tracking, and various deployment strategies.
• Proficiency with ML pipelines, orchestration tools, and ML-specific monitoring solutions.
• Excellent communication skills in English for effectively articulating technical concepts, project progress, and strategic vision to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Drive the visioning and execution of a cutting-edge ML Platform roadmap that empowers ML practitioners to push the boundaries of model innovation at scale.
• Leverage deep domain expertise to inspire cutting-edge solutions, igniting team passion for technical excellence and innovation.
• Drive technical excellence by implementing rigorous prioritization frameworks, streamlined processes.
• Accelerate engineer growth at all levels through mentorship, as well as fostering good team health and culture.
• Align and contribute to the team and the company's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals

Working hours are determined at the discretion of the employee.

2 days off per week: Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays off

Paid vacation: 16 days given upon joining the company

Open vacation system (Open PTO): With the manager's permission, you can take additional paid leave even if you have used up all of your paid leave (16 days given at the time of joining the company).

Parental leave: Full-time employees can take 26 weeks of continuous paid parental leave or 6 weeks of non-continuous paid parental leave, and the salary paid during the leave is the same as the basic salary.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), a Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
