This was a great job. I was busy all the time. The people were great to work with. I only left when we got a new supervisor. The new supervisor was horrible to work with. Everybody that I was working with was trying to find another position. One or two even retired to get away from him. This was a federal job in Japan.

Unbalanced and diametrically opposed work culture

The workforce in USACE is a mixture of very young and very senior individuals. This creates a turbulent atmosphere where change and improvement is difficult to attain. Furthermore, because of Government bureaucracies, management is forced to make decisions that aren't necessarily best for the company. Individuals are getting promoted not based on talent and skill, but years in service.
