Autonomous Vehicle Engineer/Engineering Manager

FUTU-RE Co., Ltd., based in Nagoya, Aichi – Japan’s automotive heartland – was established in 2014. The company’s core business is software development and autonomous vehicle engineering. Our work tackles multiple industry demands such as vehicle development, control systems development, AI, sensor fusion and research.

FUTU-RE Co., Ltd. is part of a group of companies based in Japan, China and the Netherlands. We aim to bring together the best overseas and domestic talent via a long-standing relationship with Tokyo University, the Netherlands’ Brainport region and others.

We work together with automotive OEMs, tier one and two automotive suppliers, public and private bodies, and many others on the ground-up development of self-driving vehicles, as well as pursuing our own research and development in this exciting field.

Role

Owing to rapid growth, FUTU-RE Co., Ltd. is seeking to expand our engineering team for a major new, long term autonomous vehicle project, where we will work together with a leading Japanese automotive customer on the development of self-driving vehicles.

We are looking for talented Engineers and Engineering Managers to join our innovative team. If you are enthusiastic about advancing the future of mobility in Japan, you may be a perfect fit for our team.

The project is expected to entail travel, as well as the possibility of moving to the development location. As such, this position would suit a person that enjoys seeing new places. We operate a flexible working schedule, and remote work is supported once the right knowledge and training has been obtained. Those with experience of C++, MATLAB Simulink, ROS/ROS 2 or similar software are required for these positions. We appreciate team players that possess the ability to work independently – our company promotes individual decision-making.

Applicants with experience in the automotive industry and a strong passion for furthering its development will be looked upon favorably. Experience of vehicle control systems is also beneficial. Engineering managers will be expected to have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience leading software and/or hardware teams on major projects and have Japanese language ability.

Job Requirements

At least two years' work experience in a related engineering role.Automotive or robotics industry experience looked upon favourably.Experience working with autonomous vehicles & technologies.Strong communication skills.At least N2 Japanese language ability or similar required for management position.

Working time:

09:30-18:30; flex-time system based on eight hours of worktime, plus 1 hour lunchbreak.

Remote work available.

Vacation/Holidays:

Weekends, public holidays and an annual paid leave system of 10 days.

Work location:

Nagoya Office.

This job will also feature frequent business travel.

Access:

Nagoya Office: 5 minutes’ walk from Chikusa Station on the Higashiyama Subway Line, or Kurumamichi Station on the Sakuradori Line. 5 minutes’ walk from JR Chikusa Station.
