Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma/GED required; Higher Education a plus

Conversationally bilingual in Japanese and English

Responsibilities and Duties:

Know routes and foods in detail on assigned tour

Report for scheduled tour at least 20 minutes prior to start time

Confirm any food concerns, allergies, or dietary restrictions

Welcome guests as they arrive and establish friendly conversation while you wait

Research new information about Japanese food and culture

Our tours range from 3.5-hour to half and full-day excursions, with most being 3.5-hour walking food tours. Tours are held daily, including holidays and weekends. We ask for your availability two weeks in advance, and priority is given to guides who can commit to at least two tours per week.

While this is a freelance position without paid leave, we strive to accommodate our guides' flexible schedules.

Though our tours primarily cover downtown areas, senior guides may have opportunities to travel to other regions for training programs and consulting projects. Transportation expenses are covered for each tour day.

The starting salary for a Part-time guide is ¥ 6,000 per tour
