We are currently looking for a couple of native-level English speakers to join our team as teachers at our private Eikaiwa (English conversation school).

We have schools located in Tomigaoka and Takanohara, both in Nara City.
You may choose to work at either one location or at both.
However, preference will be given to applicants who are available to work at both schools.

Qualifications:

• Native-level English speaker
• Basic Japanese communication skills

※You don't need to speak Japanese fluently, but those with higher proficiency will have an advantage.

Educational Background:

• A college degree (field of study not specified)
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees are preferred
• Applicants with a high school diploma may also be considered if they have relevant skills and experience

Residence Requirement:
Applicants should be currently living in the Kansai area, ideally in or near Nara City.
While we appreciate your interest, we kindly ask that applicants who currently reside outside the Kansai region and have no plans to relocate refrain from applying.

Position 1: Preschool Teacher
Responsibilities:

• Introduce English vocabulary to young learners using flashcards
• Teach phonics to support early reading skills
• Foster pronunciation and intonation through songs and chants
• Guide students in learning to read and write the alphabet

(All teaching materials are provided)

Position 2: Elementary School Teacher (Grades 1–6)
Responsibilities:

• As students progress, they will begin reading longer sentences and using more advanced textbooks
• Teachers should set both short- and long-term goals to support students’ language development
• Lessons must be both effective and engaging, encouraging students to enjoy learning and communicating in English

While we do have junior high school students, high school students, and adult learners, the majority of our students are in elementary school.
We are primarily looking for teachers who can joyfully and effectively teach young learners, especially kindergarten and elementary school students.

We provide the teaching materials used at our school, but how you choose to use them is entirely up to you. We do not impose any rigid or standardized teaching methods.
Some of our teachers incorporate YouTube videos, bring their own devices, or even use handmade materials. As long as your approach is truly effective in helping students improve their English skills, you're free to teach in the way that works best for you.

That said, we do ask our teachers to periodically review lesson content—this may involve gathering feedback from parents or participating in regular meetings.
By sharing teaching tips and discussing student-related challenges with our experienced staff, you'll have the opportunity to continually enhance the quality of your lessons.

While our teachers actively support one another, each instructor also maintains a high degree of autonomy and independence, bringing their own unique style and teaching approach to the classroom.

■ Business Hours
Our school is open from Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sundays and national holidays.

• Monday to Friday: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

You are free to choose your working hours from the days and times listed above.
Lesson slots will be arranged based on your availability.
However, please understand that this process may take some time,
and you may not be assigned a large number of lessons immediately after being hired.

Due to our shift-based scheduling system, your days off will be on days when you have no lessons assigned.

In addition to New Year and Golden Week holidays, the school also provides several extended breaks throughout the year.

Each weekday has approximately 10 scheduled holidays throughout the year.
For example, if you have a regular lesson every Monday, there will be around 10 Mondays each year when the school is closed.
Please note that you will not be paid for those days, as no lessons will be held.

【Takanohara School】
Suzaku 3-chome, Suzaku, Nara City

You may choose to work at either location or at both.
Please note that both schools are non-smoking facilities.

Tomigaoka School
Just a 15-minute walk from Kintetsu Gakuenmae Station, or a 5-minute bus ride followed by a 1-minute walk from the bus stop.

Takanohara School
Just a 4-minute walk from Kintetsu Takanohara Station.

You can commute by train, bus, or car.

Please note that breaks between lessons are not paid.
Example:
If your hourly rate is ¥3,000 and you teach from 16:00 to 17:00, and then again from 17:10 to 18:10, you will be paid for two hours of teaching (¥6,000).
The 10-minute break between lessons is unpaid.

Commuting Fees:
Transportation costs are covered, up to a specified limit.
You are also welcome to commute by car, as parking is available on-site.
